Not long ago, HVACR technicians would typically mount analog gauges on a system to monitor its performance and record data with pencil and paper, perhaps performing some calculations along the way. Then they would take it back to their office or vehicle, where they would enter it into their computer, probably a laptop. They might arrange it in a logical form and then send it out, either by e-mail or a printed version by mail. We marveled at how modern technology made things quicker and easier.
